Rafael de la Sierra — Founding Partner

Rafael “Rafa” de la Sierra is the founding partner of Sierra Capital, where he leads the firm's strategic direction and takes pride in engaging directly with clients. His approach emphasizes building and nurturing long-term relationships grounded in trust, integrity, and personalized service. In addition to overseeing the firm, Rafa serves as a key member of its Investment Committee.

Before founding Sierra Capital in 1998, Rafa honed his expertise across several prominent financial institutions. He spent four years at Citibank as a Vice President, catering to Ultra High Net Worth clients based in Latin America. Prior to his role at Citibank, Rafa worked at Merrill Lynch for two years as an Associate Banker, supporting a top advisory team. His career began at O’Connor & Associates, a quantitative derivatives trading firm now owned by UBS, where he gained valuable experience in complex derivative strategies.

Rafa earned his degree in Finance from Boston College in 1990.

Rafa and his wife Kristy raised their four children in Greenwich, CT. They now reside in Miami, Florida.
